I feel like these 7 paragraphs at the end of JSH are never spoken of, and this is definitely the first time I have read them. They are Oliver's descriptions of the events and experiences with Joseph involved with the Book of Mormon and the angel visit. I do love the amazement and wonder that I detect when reading the account by Oliver because I can tell how blessed he feels for being a part of this great work. He starts with the days he spent writing as Joseph dictated the inspirations of heaven through the Urim and Thummim. I honestly thing that he is the first to get to actually read thoroughly the Book of Mormon because he was listening to it and writing each sentence so he had to focus on the words, and got to realize what everything meant.
His wording when speaking of the visit from John the Baptist is clearly excitement and great appreciation for the guidance from the Lord. In a world so dark and lost, Oliver was brought into the light with Joseph and given knowledge that changed everything. He had a testimony that all the churches had no real authority because they denied revelations, but every other time in the history of the earth has had revelation to guide the people to do God's will. It just makes sense that the Lord will call someone to do that in the latter days. Just like Oliver, I hope to adore in that day which shall never cease in the mansions where perfection dwells and sin never comes.
