Official Declaration 1

Yes, this section is about the ending of polygamy, but I think it shows great faith and obedience. The main manifesto was just a statement given by Wilford Woodruff that the Church is not condoning nor teaching plural marriage despite all that has been said or accused of them. The part that I find to be a better read is the excerpts from other times President Woodruff addressed the matter because there is more information about why The Church is taking the stance.
All the history about the matter isn't as important as the reason the Lord has the Church stop practicing polygamy. I know that the Lord allowed plural marriage at certain points in time for those He says it is okay for, but when it became against the law in America, He commanded the Church to stop. It is a commandment to obey the laws of the land, and the Lord showed Woodruff what would happen if the church refused to cooperate. I have a testimony that the Lord watches over His Church on earth by sending information to the prophets, even if it is against the initial beliefs of the prophet. I was surprised to read that Wilford would rather have kept polygamy but was told by the Lord to stop so that the Church and the Lord's work would not be stopped due to legality reasons.
